The elusive trams of Milan

There were a lot of pleasant surprises in store during my recent (unplanned) trip to Milan, but one that really stood out for me was the trams.

Yep, that’s right – forget the Duomo, I fell head over heels for the city’s bright yellow vintage trams.

And as a result, I spent the rest of the day trying to get a half-decent photo of one.

Turned out the trams are elusive as they are beguiling.

…and skittish…

And prone to making you look like a clueless tourist…

Until… finally!

Finally: an underwhelming shot of a tram.

Hoorah!

In all honesty, while my shots look completely amateur and totally unappealing, I thought the trams were a nice touch in a city which is a hidden gem with a real air of history.

A nice surprise.
